Okay, let’s get right to it.  Honestly there is no “end all be all” when it comes to a diet or eating plan.

There is no “best ever”.

In fact, what it ultimately comes down to is personal preference and your ability to be consistent with it.  If you can’t stay on it – it won’t work.  Plain and simple!

There are a plethora of so-called diets or eating plans; Keto, Paleo, Low Carb, Zone… it goes on and on and on.

It seems every other week some “new” program comes along that’s supposed to be the “secret sauce” we’ve all been yearning for. Problem solved.  Christmas in June. All is right with the world. Yeah, you get it and believe me, I’ve tried them all.

My Decision

So why have I decided to use Intermittent Fasting (IF)?  (Not sure what IF is – read this).

First of all, as I’ve already stated, any “diet” can only be as good as your ability or willingness to follow it.  For me, IF is something I can follow.  And here’s the thing – I don’t even see it as a diet.  It’s a way of eating that I’ve incorporated into my lifestyle.

I can honestly see myself practicing it indefinitely.

Of all the other “diets” I tried, I found the low-carb diet quite effective.  I lost weight very quickly and, believe it or not, I stayed on it a few years – I was in phenomenal shape.

That said,  most of the time, I was hungry, cranky and a pain in the “you know what” to be around.  Over time, the very restrictive food choices got old and it became unbearable.  Don’t get me wrong, personally, I think it’s an excellent solution for losing a few pounds quickly.  In other words, it’s great but only great short-term.   At least for me.

However, with IF – there are NO off-limit foods.  If you like ice cream – eat ice cream.  Now,  while you do want to eat high nutrient foods most of the time, having something you like is no big deal.  Truth be told, I’ve incorporated something sweet into my daily plan as a reward.  How good is that?

The other thing I like is the flexibility.  For example, if I know I’m going to breakfast with friends, which means I would be eating earlier than usual,  I can just eat my last meal the day before earlier as well.  That way I still maintain my eating and fasting windows.  I love that.

In Conclusion

Different strategies work for different people. We all have preferences and varying approaches. The trick is to find something that works for you. After all it’s your life.
